Tyla's Met Gala debut is one for the books! 🤯 She wore a Balmain gown made entirely of sculpted sand.

The artist, a Grammy winner, complemented her desert-inspired dress with jewelry that evoked the movement of water, designed by John Hardy. The pieces included earrings made of yellow gold, adorned with aquamarine, yellow diamond, and blue topaz, as well as two yellow gold pave rings. She also wore a simple gold necklace and carried an oversized hourglass clutch.

Her beauty look featured a striking cat eyeliner and a subtle dusting of sand on her left shoulder. The 3D chain embellishments on her nails added a unique touch, resembling dripping sand.

To achieve the appearance of being submerged in sand, Olivia Rousteing, Creative Director of Balmain, revealed that they created a mold of Tyla's body a couple of months prior. The intention was to create a dress that would become a permanent part of the museum, with the bodice crafted from plaster and the organza train featuring three shades of sand, complete with micro-crystal studs that give it a shimmering finish.

According to Oliver Rousteing, the creative director of the French fashion house, the singer's appearance was created using a custom-made mold of her body.

This year's dress code, titled "The Garden of Time," draws inspiration from J.G. Ballard's 1962 short story with the same name. It aligns well with the new exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Instituteies: Reawakening Fashion, which will debut to the public on Friday, May 10. Curated by Andrew Bolton, the exhibition showcases garments from the institute's collection, all presented with a focus on nature. The accompanying coffee table book for the exhibit is set to be published on June 18.

Tyla, the youngest South African artist to have a song on the Billboard Hot 100, departed the Mark Hotel for a fashionable fundraiser while fans sang her chart-topping tune. Rousteing, who wore a matching sand top created from a mold of his face, referred to "Sleeping Beauty" as a once-in-a-lifetime dressing opportunity.

Singer Tyla, who sang the song "Water," made her debut appearance on the red carpet at the Met Gala covered in sand.

Tyla feels thrilled and can't wait to explore the gallery and admire all the photographs. She's also eager to return home and enjoy her stylish outfit. Everything has come together perfectly, much to her delight.

The South African singer collaborated with stylist Katie Qian to create a one-of-a-kind look for the Met Gala. Inspired by the concept of "the sands of time," they designed a custom Balmain gown that was both stunning and symbolic. As the singer explained to La Anthony on the red carpet, she wanted to make a bold statement for her first time at the prestigious event.
